World Sight Day (WSD) is an annual day of awareness held on the second Thursday of October, to focus global attention on blindness and vision impairment.
For 17 years, L’OCCITANE has worked with local NGOs to help fight avoidable blindness in 15 countries. Every year on World Sight Day, L’OCCITANE sells a special soap to help raise funds to support the fight against avoidable blindness in developing countries.
While Douglas and I were shopping at Metropolis at Metrotown last weekend, we wandered into L’OCCITANE and found the annual campaign. We saw that 100% of the profits from selling these bars of Shea Milk Solidarity Soap will be donated to their program Union for Vision 10by20. This program includes projects related to awareness campaigns, eye-screenings, access to treatments, eyeglasses and surgeries and training of medical staff to support the cause of fighting avoidable blindness in developing countries.
The L’OCCITANE Foundation supports the visually impaired and promotes women’s entrepreneurship is supports around 15 projects every year. Learn more about the Foundation at fondation.loccitane.com.
